Child training Tuesdays

Go here to check out more training tips!
This week Elizabeth is asking about chores and allowance. Just this morning I went to this site and printed off chore charts for the older kids. It was really easy and free. I'm going to laminate ours and then they can mark them off with a dry erase marker. They have to clean their bathroom, get dressed, brush their teeth, clean their rooms, and take care of their dirty/clean clothes. Something else they do most everyday is pick up all the toys before bed. (I didn't put this on their charts) I think that our kids get off pretty easy. Brie will often help me cook or clean. We don't pay our kids at this point. We've discussed it often, but we are unsure what we should do. If we did an allowance it would be handled by 10% going to God, 10% in savings and the rest to ....... I suppose what they wanted to save for with in reason. I'm looking forward to seeing what others do!

Scripture Time

Psalm 4:
"1 Answer me when I call to you,
O my righteous God.
Give me relief from my distress;
be merciful to me and hear my prayer.
2 How long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame?
How long will you love delusions and seek false gods?
Selah
3 Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself;
the LORD will hear when I call to him.
4 In your anger do not sin;
when you are on your beds,
search your hearts and be silent.
Selah
5 Offer right sacrifices
and trust in the LORD.
6 Many are asking, 'Who can show us any good?'
Let the light of your face shine upon us, O LORD.
7 You have filled my heart with greater joy
than when their grain and new wine abound.
8 I will lie down and sleep in peace,
for you alone, O LORD,
make me dwell in safety."

Have I been missing?

It's been a busy few weeks here! I know you can all relate!

I've been getting ready for school. Last year I started in July just to try something new. It worked great since I ended up pregnant with Reuben! I liked it well enough last year that I'll be doing it again this year!(minus the pregnancy part) =(
I was very blessed this year to be given a curriculum. My sister had it, didn't like it, can't sell it, so she's giving it to me to try! Thanks Shannon! It's called Winters Promise. I think it looks like something my kids and I will enjoy! Here is what we are using from them. I still have a few books that I'm waiting for! (hopefully they get here by next week!) I will be posting on the rest of our curriculum through out the week!

Trifle!

Make a pan of brownies. Cut them into 1" squares.

Get a pretty bowl, and put a layer of brownies into the bottom.

Then put pudding on top of that (I use chocolate, but any would be good) I didn't get a picture of the pudding layer, TJ was scared of the thunder! Then put cool whip on top of that.

Then add another layer of brownies. I also had a little bit of strawberries left so I added that as well.

Then add the rest of the pudding.

Then the rest of the cool whip!

Here's your finished dessert! It's really easy and really good!

Letterboxing

We had our first solo letterboxing experience. I think we all enjoyed it! Here is a link telling more about letterboxing in case you don't know about it! I hope you enjoy our photos. If you've never been to Gene Stratton-Porter's historic site I would encourage you to go. Beautiful gardens here, just gorgeous! If I could I'd live here!!!! It's been one of my favorite spots since I was a little girl!

Another great Giveaway!

Wow Andrea has such talent! Be sure to check out this giveaway!

Dual purpose clothesline

Do you have a clothesline? If so and your looking for something fun to do with it (other than putting you clothes out) try this:

Get a few books. Spread a blanket on the ground.

Hang a sheet at one end of your line to make a tent.

Fix it for some shade if needed!

Grab an Icey out of the freezer and enjoy it! You don't have to make a mess with it like Titus unless you want to! (yes I snapped the picture right as it was coming out of his mouth!)

This is our "ceiling"!

Take turns reading books.

If your 2 then just run in and out of the clothes, while listening to the stories of course!

Loving my Husband Friday

I love the way my husband's brain works. He is a genius, but very well rounded. He knows about so many things, he doesn't just specialize in one area. Even though he's so smart (and I'm so not!) he doesn't make me feel dumb. When I've spelled something wrong, or explained something wrong he gently and lovingly corrects me.

My first giveaway!

A few years ago I was looking for something new decor wise. I wanted a scripture verse above my windows in my kitchen/dining area. I tried to stencil it, but it turned out REALLY bad. So I started searching the Internet for adhesive phrases, I found a few places, but they were pretty pricey. Then I found WiseDecor. This company is great, I love them. They have tons of "phrases" to choose from, and a huge idea gallery to pique your creative juices. Here is their website.
I had gotten one of these in a store for our daughter's room and the quality is no where near WiseDecors, and we paid a lot of money for it.

We ordered a pretty large verse, (as you can see in the picture) but it went up so easy. A huge plus to me was that the letters didn't rip when they were coming off of the paper. They went up with no bubbles or ridges either, and if I ever change my mind I can take it down. They give you a single word to practice with, and you get a tool to help make sure it's smooth while your putting it up. These are high quality and really add a beautiful touch to your home or business. When I've contacted the company they are quick to respond. I've dealt with Mike and not only is he helpful he's a fellow believer!

Anytime someone comes into my home they comment on how cool my verse is!

In His word Wednesday

I came across this verse this week and it spoke to me. I think it provides great peace. He's ALWAYS with us!

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9

Summer Lovin'

Does this look yummy? What is it you might ask? It's a homemade Popsicle.

Here Brie is peeling the Dixie cup away.

And here she is enjoying it! And here is the recipe!
My mil is the one who made it so I don't have actual amounts!!
Banana
strawberries
orange juice
cran-grape juice
yogurt
Jello
She puts all ingredients in the blender, mixes, and then puts in the cups w/ the sticks. The juice is 100 %, so pretty healthy. The jello helps them to not drip (or at least not as fast) so you wouldn't have to add that in. You can add anything you like! They are very good! If you have Popsicle makers even better!
EDIT:She did add a little sugar. She also said her blender was full, and it made 20 some Popsicles. She stuck them in the freezer til they started getting firm then stuck the stick in.
and Danielle- she probably would make some for you!!!

Scripture Time

Psalm 3

1 O LORD, how many are my foes!
How many rise up against me!
2 Many are saying of me,
"God will not deliver him."
Selah
3 But you are a shield around me, O LORD;
you bestow glory on me and lift up my head.
4 To the LORD I cry aloud,
and he answers me from his holy hill.
Selah
5 I lie down and sleep;
I wake again, because the LORD sustains me.
6 I will not fear the tens of thousands
drawn up against me on every side.
7 Arise, O LORD!
Deliver me, O my God!
Strike all my enemies on the jaw;
break the teeth of the wicked.
8 From the LORD comes deliverance.
May your blessing be on your people.
Selah

Father~ Thank you for a new day. Help me to apply these words to my daily walk. In your name Amen.

Child training Tuesdays

Elizabeth from here is hosting child training Tuesdays. I'm really looking forward to this. As a sahm and a christian I struggle with this. I feel like it's my job and it's what I'm called to do, but quite often I don't know what to do to accomplish what needs done. Her challenge this week is to read thru the book of Proverbs. I'm hoping God reveals something great to me!

I got this shirt from my sisters mil. She's such a sweet lady a true giver! I can't wait til Reuben can wear this shirt, because he is ADORABLE! Don't you just want to eat him up! I sure do! He's almost a month old already, I can't believe it!

Scripture Time

Psalm 2

1 Why do the nations conspire [a]
and the peoples plot in vain?
2 The kings of the earth take their stand
and the rulers gather together
against the LORD
and against his Anointed One. [b]
3 "Let us break their chains," they say,
"and throw off their fetters."
4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs;
the Lord scoffs at them.
5 Then he rebukes them in his anger
and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,
6 "I have installed my King [c]
on Zion, my holy hill."
7 I will proclaim the decree of the LORD :
He said to me, "You are my Son [d] ;
today I have become your Father. [e]
8 Ask of me,
and I will make the nations your inheritance,
the ends of the earth your possession.
9 You will rule them with an iron scepter [f] ;
you will dash them to pieces like pottery."
10 Therefore, you kings, be wise;
be warned, you rulers of the earth.
11 Serve the LORD with fear
and rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry
and you be destroyed in your way,
for his wrath can flare up in a moment.
Blessed are all who take refuge in him
