I've been spending more time researching plastics and options, probably too much time! I came across this blog over the weekend. I think Beth has some good ideas and info. One thing I was curious about was bread storage, well she had a post all about it. I was sure I was going to have to buy a breadbox for $35-50, (or more) and that still didn't take care of my freezing problem. After reading this post I realized that I just have to find a few popcorn tins. Of course, I'm not sure how easy this will be.... =) (She suggests looking at thrift stores!)
I was reading through the comments and came across this post on bread bags. I'm planning on trying this out too. I will keep you posted if I am able to try it.
*Thanks Sarah and Shannon for all your ideas! I know this is a journey and with all journeys you have to make some decisions. I think in the past few months I've already made a lot of strides in this journey, but still have a lot I can do! I love hearing what others do, because for me it helps me brainstorm. I personally feel like with stores...less is more. The more I can make the less I buy! Which I think is (normally) healthier too!

Sarah is hosting a "from scratch" segment. What do you make from scratch? If you've never tried it, I encourage you too. It's easy and it tastes so much better.
I've been baking my own bread for around 7 years. I had no clue what I was doing when I started, but I have come a LONG way. If I can do it, so can you!
This week I made this pie from scratch. It was yummy! I also made this bread. (I changed it to whole wheat) I think this will now be our bread recipe! It was awesome!
I think my favorite thing I made this week were these rolls. Oh my they were....... PERFECT! I will be making them again!
Go visit Sarah and share what you made from scratch this week!

John 13:34
"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
Romans 12:18
If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
1 John 4:19-21
We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.

I just found out that some of my text is not coming through. I found out some of the words are black and you can't see them. Different computers are seeing different things. =) All of my text is white on mine, so I'm going to work on it. If anyone has any helpful hints I'd appreciate it, cause I'm clueless!
Sorry for any inconvenience!

My family is looking into getting honey this spring. I think we are all really excited. We have been doing some experimenting with cooking with honey, so far we are very pleased with what we've found.
I took 3/4 cup honey,6 Tbl. cornstarch, and between 1-1.5 cups of water. I followed the directions here and let it get thick and bubbly. I continued to follow the directions. Here are some changes I made.... I added only 2 Tbl. of butter, 1 tsp. vinegar and no lemon extract. I kept the lemon juice the same.
The next time I make this I will use 1/2 cup of honey, and add a little more lemon juice.
Meringue recipe: 3 egg whites, 2 Tbl. sugar, 1tsp. vanilla

Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
1 Corinthians 15:58
All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved
Matthew 10:22
Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel
Philippians 1:26-28
So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.
2 Thessalonians 2:14-16
But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God chose you to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth.
2 Thessalonians 2:12-14

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.
She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
Proverbs 31: 11-12
Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth
for your love is more delightful than wine
Song of Solomon 1:2
My lover is mine and I am his;
Song of Solomon 2:16a
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8a
I decided to share some verses on LOVE........Ahhhhh, love.! I'm so thankful that I have Mark. I'm thankful that God created marriage and love. I'm thankful that God put us together. We don't have a perfect relationship, we have ups and downs. But in our 10 years of marriage we've grown separately and more importantly we've grown together. I can't imagine my life with out him. He is my mate for life, he brings me so much joy. Thank you for loving me completely even though I'm imperfect! I love you Mark!
Thanks Jeanne for the picture!
I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentines Day!

Here is the recipe I used. The only change I made was I added 1.5 cups whole wheat flour. I didn't add the kosher salt either. When I got mine out of the oven I put them on a cooling rack. I had 2 Tbl. melted butter I lightly brushed on. (I put my cookie sheet under the rack, that way any excess could run off.)
12 pieces of dough soon to become pretzels.
Here's a little video of Zeke making them. (So easy a 5 year old can do it!)
*hint* The thinner and longer the rope the prettier they will turn out.
When the pretzels came out of the oven we used these yummy dips to dip into. (You could also make cinnamon sugar pretzels.)
Does this all make sense? If you have any questions please ask! I feel like my brain is only in partial working order today!
This has nothing to do w/ pretzels, but I just loved his "outfit"! He was ready to go in the snow 1st thing this morning!

For,
"Whoever would love life
and see good days
must keep his tongue from evil
and his lips from deceitful speech.
He must turn from evil and do good;
he must seek peace and pursue it.
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous
and his ears are attentive to their prayer,
but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil."
1 Peter 3:10-12

Then Job replied to the LORD :
"I know that you can do all things;
no plan of yours can be thwarted.
You asked, 'Who is this that obscures my counsel without knowledge?'
Surely I spoke of things I did not understand,
things too wonderful for me to know.
"You said, 'Listen now, and I will speak;
I will question you,
and you shall answer me.'
My ears had heard of you
but now my eyes have seen you.
