Ephesians 6:5-9


5Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. 6Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. 7Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men, 8because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free.
9And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him.

We don't have slave/master relationships anymore in this country thank goodness. Does that mean we can just forget this and go on? Well maybe, but I think these verses have some great application to apply to our life. I like verse 6. If we are living a certain way then we are witnessing to those around us. I really like the 'when their eye is on you" part. You should live a certain way all the time not just when you think someone is watching! So we don't have "masters", but we do have a Master we should be serving. We should serve w/ our whole heart in order to bring him glory.

Father~ Thank you for your words. Thank you that we can apply it to our lives so we can grow in you. In your name Amen.
